The Butler sink has graced the worlds finest homes for over a century with its timeless, practical and beautiful design. Ideal for modern or traditional looking kitchens and available in three sizes.
The Butler sink is a design classic. Originally made for durability and practicality, its elegant simplicity has ensured its enduring popularity. It has been in continuous production at Shaws of Darwen for 120 years. Like all true classics, the Butler sink can be a centrepiece in almost any design scheme, from traditional to cutting-edge.
The Shaws Butler sink is available in three standard sizes, 600mm, 800mm and 900mm wide. Shaws are the oldest manufacturer of Butler and Belfast sinks still in existence.
The Shaws Butler sink is made from heavy duty fireclay in a unique blend from South West England and France. We still mix and pour the clay by hand before applying two layers of a hard-wearing glaze and firing the sink at over 1200°C. The result is a sink with outstanding properties of heat resistance, scratch resistance and stain resistance. The surface is chemical safe – Shaws make sinks for laboratories and hospitals as well as homes, hotels and offices – so there is no need to worry when cleaning. Reassuringly, it is also anti-bacterial. The ultra-smooth fired surface has been certified to reduce 99.99% of bacteria.
We make our sinks to last a lifetime. We have on record Shaws sinks still in daily use that date back to 1903, just 6 years after Arthur Shaw established the business. Then, as now, the master craftsman who finishes the clay stamps his name on the base. A personal guarantee of quality that Shaws of Darwen have been making for over 120 years.
